Rock blocks.

چکیده
Consider representation theory associated to symmetric groups, or to Hecke algebras in type A, or to q-Schur algebras, or to finite general linear groups in non-describing characteristic. Rock blocks are certain combinatorially defined blocks appearing in such a representation theory, first observed by R. Rouquier. Rock blocks are much more symmetric than general blocks, and every block is derived equivalent to a Rock block. Motivated by a theorem of J. Chuang and R. Kessar in the case of symmetric group blocks of abelian defect, we pursue a structure theorem for these blocks.

Analysis of support pressure for stabilization of rock blocks in the Zaker tunnel
This paper presents the results of engineering geological studies of rock blocks along a road tunnel in NW Iran. The tunnel is to cross the Western Alborz Mountain Range through 530 m in length with 11.2 m span and 8 m height. Eocene tuffs and andesites crop out in whole of the tunnel route. Numerical analyses are done using, a 3D stability analysis and visualization program, called Unwedge tha...
متن کاملStability analysis of block-flexural toppling of rock blocks with round edges
One of the most conventional toppling instabilities is the block-flexural toppling failure that occurs in civil and mining engineering projects. In this kind of failure, some rock columns are broken due to tensile bending stresses, and the others are overturned due to their weights, and finally, all of the blocks topple together. A specific feature of spheroidal weathering is the rounding of th...
متن کاملIdentifying unstable rock blocks by measuring micro-tremors and vibration on cliffs
It is important to identify unstable rock blocks and take countermeasures to prevent sudden rock fall disasters. However, identifying such blocks visually is extremely difficult, so an identification method using peculiar features of unstable blocks must be developed. The method reported here uses a vibrometer, which is inexpensive and easy to operate. In order to assess the feasibility of the ...
متن کاملRock Slope Stability Analysis Using Discrete Element Method
Rock slope stability depends very much on the strength features of the rock and the geometrical and strength characteristics of the discontinuities (e.g., roughness, wall strength and persistence). Since a rock mass is not a continuum, its behavior is dominated by such discontinuities as faults, joints and bedding planes. Also, Rock slope instability is a major hazard for human activities and o...
متن کاملDeveloping a Matlab Code for Determine Geometry of Rock Mass Blocks and Its Applications in Mining and Rock Mechanic Engineering
Various geological processes such as tectonic activities develop fractures and discontinuities in the rock mass body; these, in turn, form blocks with different shapes and sizes in the rock mass body. Accurate understanding of these blocks' geometry is essential in different domains of rock and mine engineering such as determination of yield in quarries, optimization of fragmentation energy, th...
